Rising damp or condensation: preparing a useful advice request
04/11/2026Coverage diameter is an important comparison point for Humidistop devices. It is not a floor area in square metres. A simple plan of the affected level is therefore a better starting point than the number of rooms or the advertised size of the property.
Mark the areas concerned
Draw the outline of the building and indicate the damp walls. Add known lengths, extensions, changes in direction and differences in level. A clearly labelled approximate plan can already support a useful conversation. Mark any dimensions that still need checking.
Compare the right specifications
Read each model’s stated coverage diameter, power requirements and installation guidance. ATE devices use mains electricity; ATG devices are geomagnetic and require no electrical supply. Similar model names should not be taken to mean identical installation conditions.
Confirm the choice
Building layout and the source of moisture also matter. Do not automatically calculate how many devices to buy from floor area alone. Send your plan to the advice team and compare the existing model pages. Rising damp devices do not replace work needed for leaks, penetrating water or condensation.
ATE and ATG coverage diameter: start from the position
Read the diameter around the intended installation point, under the conditions stated in the model instructions. A long house, an L-shaped building and a compact property with the same floor area do not have the same layout. Add dimensions to your drawing so that distances can be discussed without treating an approximate sketch as a guarantee of results.
Keep preparation practical
Include accessible rooms and, for an ATE, the available power supply. This helps you discuss a convenient location and read the installation instructions before delivery. Keep the exact model reference with the manual. Use the device according to that documentation, and ask Humidistop if a point about positioning or operation needs explaining.
